As the name suggests ( Arthro = joint; and scopy = viewing), Knee Arthroscopy is all about viewing the joint with the help of a small camera. It means, this surgical procedure enables doctors to have a clear and precise view of the knee for diagnosis and treatment.

A knee arthroscopy starts by giving the patient an anesthetic to numb either the knee only or from waist down or to make one sleep. Few cuts or incisions would be done in the knee, which is then expanded by pumping sterile salt water.

After that, the insertion of arthroscope takes into the cut and the doctor them tries to find the problem in the knee. Likewise, small tools are put into the incision to proceed ahead with the surgery.
